DR NWOBIKE SAN PLEADED NOT GUITY TO THE ALLEGED BRIBERY BY THE EFCC.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is prosecuting Dr Nwobike SAN for allegedly offering a gratification of N750, 000 to a judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Mohammed Yunusa, in order to allegedly compromise the judge.

Dr.Nwobike was on March 9, 2016 arraigned before Justice Raliat Adebiyi on five counts of offering gratification to a public officer, contrary to provision of Section 64 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, No.11, 2011 and the accused however pleaded not guilty and was granted bail on self recognizance.

JUSTICE ABANG OF THE FED.HIGH COURT DECIDES TO CONTINUE OLISAH METUH'S TRIAL DESPITE THE PETITION WRITTEN AGAINST HIM

Olisa Metuh’s petition to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, to re-assign his corruption trial to a new judge. Mr. Metuh has said that the current judge deliberating his case, Justice Okon Abang, is a former classmate of his at the University of Lagos. {Find attached below copy of the petition}

According to the petition, “[Mr. Metuh] got very worried [when Justice Abang was assigned to the case] because he feared that he may not get justice in his court” based off of previous engagements they had together.

CORPORATE AFFAIRS COMMISSION BEGINS DE-REGISTERING COMPANIES

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) says it has begun the process of delisting 38,717 dormant or portfolio companies from its register.
The commission’s Director of Public Affairs, Mr Churchill Williams, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.

Williams said the affected companies were those that failed to file their annual returns to CAC as required by sections 370 to 378 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA).

ONDO STATE FEMALE SPEAKER AND HER DEPUTY IMPEACHED


Eighteen of the 26 members of the Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday night impeached the first female Speaker of the House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele and her Deputy, Fatai Olotu. The impeachment took place at one of the lawmakers quarters in Akure, the Ondo state capital at about 10:30pm , March 8th.
The lawmakers also elected Iroju Ogundeji and Ayo Arowele, as speaker and deputy speaker respectively.

THE LEARNED SILK RICKEY TARFA DENIED THE ALLEGATION OF MONEY PAID INTO JUSTICE YUNUSA'S ACCOUNT


Mr Rickey Tarfa, SAN, who initiated a N2.5billion fundamental rights suit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in which he is challenging his arrest and detention, as well the seizure of his phone and car, has told a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, that the N225,000 allegedly paid into Justice Mohammed Yunusa of a Federal High Court, Lagos, was a lie, as the said money was paid into the account of a former staff of the chambers, Mohammed Awwal Yunusa.
In an affidavit of urgency deposed to by Head of Chambers, Rickey Tarfa SAN and Co., Mr. Segun Odubela, he averred that a former staff of the chambers, Mohammed Awwal Yunusa, an indigene of Kogi State was the owner of the Access bank account the EFCC had earlier averred belonged to Justice Yunusa, where its alleged a sum of N225,000 was paid in by Rickey Tarfa as bribe.

FEMALE LAWYER ALLEDGE TO HAVE STABBED HER HUSBAND TO DEATH

Mr Oyediran Ajanaku who use to live at  Grenoble, France and later relocated to Nigeria after he got married to a lawyer, a state counsel at the Directorate of Public Prosecutions in Oyo State was said to have been stabbed to death by his wife.
