JUSTICE ABANG OF THE FED.HIGH COURT DECIDES TO CONTINUE OLISAH METUH'S TRIAL DESPITE THE PETITION WRITTEN AGAINST HIM

Olisa Metuh’s petition to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, to re-assign his corruption trial to a new judge. Mr. Metuh has said that the current judge deliberating his case, Justice Okon Abang, is a former classmate of his at the University of Lagos. {Find attached below copy of the petition}

According to the petition, “[Mr. Metuh] got very worried [when Justice Abang was assigned to the case] because he feared that he may not get justice in his court” based off of previous engagements they had together.

CORPORATE AFFAIRS COMMISSION BEGINS DE-REGISTERING COMPANIES

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) says it has begun the process of delisting 38,717 dormant or portfolio companies from its register.
The commission’s Director of Public Affairs, Mr Churchill Williams, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.

Williams said the affected companies were those that failed to file their annual returns to CAC as required by sections 370 to 378 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA).

ONDO STATE FEMALE SPEAKER AND HER DEPUTY IMPEACHED


Eighteen of the 26 members of the Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday night impeached the first female Speaker of the House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele and her Deputy, Fatai Olotu. The impeachment took place at one of the lawmakers quarters in Akure, the Ondo state capital at about 10:30pm , March 8th.
The lawmakers also elected Iroju Ogundeji and Ayo Arowele, as speaker and deputy speaker respectively.
